Bird Brains

Songbirds could help us treat speech disorders in humans, scientists in the US believe. Human and songbird brains are different but speech and song learning involve similar neural mechanisms. By studying exactly how they produce complex songs, by transmitting impulses through nerve cells in their brains, researchers could unlock the secrets of our speech.
