A white pelican has been sighted in northern Jutland over the weekend, a considerable distance away from its natural habitat in south-eastern Europe.

Numerous bird spotters noted the white pelican over the weekend, as the bird is not on the list of Danish birds. The pelican has a wing span of up to three metres and was seen on the island of Læsø, off the northern part of Jutland. Observers said it is not ringed and very shy.

The white pelican is normally found in south-eastern Europe, and has therefore drawn many birdwatchers from across the country. This is the third time within the past five weeks that a rare bird has visited the airs above northern Jutland.
