An unknown creature is reportedly frightening and threatening village residents in the Uukwiyu Uushona constituency (Oshana region).
According to regional councillor Andreas Mundjindi, the mysterious animal was spotted late last Saturday chasing dogs and goats. Mundjindi says that the beast even almost injured a young man on Sunday afternoon on his way home.
"This is an alien animal that the people have not seen before. We don't have a forest here and only bushes. So, this must be black magic at play", the councillor told Informanté.
The animal is said to be white in colour with a dog-like head and pig-like backside. Locals are now only working and walking in groups whenever they go somewhere - day or night.
One resident told Informanté that the creature originated from a house of a grey haired man. "Everyone believes it is his beast and even he knows that we think so," the source said, adding that the man would be so feared that no one dares to confront him.
The resident further says that people are puzzled that the mysterious animal only attacks dogs of some households while others are spared of the attacks.
"When it comes our side in the night, all the dogs are barking, but if it goes back west, then it's all hush. People must be safe. We don't want to be mauled by things we don't know," he fumed.
A teacher acknowledged that even his learners are talking about the alien animal. "Wether it's true or not, I don't know. Wambos are just like Caprivians. They like magic too much," says the geography teacher. Unknown animals have been regularly spotted in the north over the past years, most notably at Okaku village. There residents accused a certain family of keeping strange animals as pets. The family successfully sued the Ministry of Safety and Security when police searched their house. Nothing was found.
The Uukwiyu Uushona councillor pleads with the owner of the unknown beast to remove it from the open before it causes injuries. "Alikana tukwateni nawa iinima yetu nokuyipa yilye yo kaayi tu fadhukiipo" – translating into "please let's keep our things safe and feed them, so that they don't run out into the open."
Some of northern tribes are said to believe that keeping strange animals in their houses would bring luck, protection and wealth.

A Bloodsucker Goes to Washington: Is this the Chupacabra?
A bizarre beast said to combine the characteristics of a kangaroo, dog, rat and deer was captured last week by workers at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Maryland near Washington, D.C.
Technicians on a smoke break wandered near a wooded area and found the strange, nearly hairless animal. The workers took cellphone videos of the beast, and eventually lured it into a cage with Chinese food as bait. Local news reporters interviewed the hospital workers, who offered a variety of opinions about the beast's identity. "It's a kangaroo, dog, rat mixed," X-ray technician Joe Livermore told the local NBC news. "It's got a rat tail and a head like a deer. I don't know what it is."

The shy animal was dubbed "Prince Chupa" after the mysterious vampire
chupacabra, and already some are wondering if the bloodsucker has
finally been captured alive. The chupacabra dates back to 1995, when
an eyewitness sighted the monster in Puerto Rico. In my book,
"Tracking the Chupacabra," I provide evidence showing that the
original chupacabra report described a monster in a science fiction
film, and most likely no beast ever existed. Since then, no hard
evidence of the chupacabra has emerged, and the myth has been kept
alive by occasional reports of animals identical to Prince Chupa. So
it's not a chupacabra: but what is it?
Many veterinarians and other animal experts are hesitant to offer
opinions about mysterious creatures because it can be difficult to
identify an animal from just a photo or video. Many animals,
especially in the Canidae family (which includes dogs, coyotes, foxes,
and wolves), can look very similar and the exact species may only be
distinguished by personally examining details such as skull shape,
tail length and so on (or DNA analysis). If experts miss a detail in a
fuzzy photo or video and get it wrong, they can look foolish. [Rogue
Giant Rodent Caught on Camera in California]
That said, we can tell from the video that it's clearly a canid; many
suspect a fox. Most people know what a fox looks like — and it's not a
kangaroo-dog-rat-deer-looking thing — unless its hair has fallen out
because of disease. Prince Chupa probably has a bad case of mange, a
parasitic skin infection caused by mites. Because people usually see
animals with their full coat of fur, animals with mange can be
difficult to identify.
So let's do the math. It's about the size of a fox; foxes live in the
area. Prince Chupa's tail looks similar to what you'd see on a
hairless fox: long, thin and rat-like. All signs point to it being a
fox — although perhaps one with a longer-than-normal tail — with a bad
case of mange.
The beast was eventually set free, and unless it is re-captured and
subjected to DNA analysis, we may never know exactly what it is.

Mystery beast causing panic in Quang Ngai province
Last update 12/05/2011 04:01:00 PM (GMT+7)
VietNamNet Bridge - Hundreds of households in Binh Dong Commune of Binh Son District in Quang Ngai are living in panic after mysterious footprints were seen on the sand and loud roaring sounds heard in the area.
According to Cao Tan Son, police chief of the Binh Dong Commune, these mysterious incidents have been occurring since May 7 at the foot of Dinh Mountain in Son Tra Commune.
However, no one has seen the strange creature that could have caused such large footprints measuring almost 12-15cm. Over 20 dogs have also been killed in the area and now around 280 households of the commune are living in panic.
Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, a 70-year-old woman was the first to find her dead pet dog on the night of May 7. She said that her dog was found without its head and some body organs.
On the same night, four dogs were also found dead in the same manner, approximately 15-20 kilograms from Ngoc’s neighborhood.
Many households living near the Dinh Mountain said they had heard very loud roaring sounds.
In related news, in the border districts of Si Ma Cai and Muong Khuong in the northwestern province of Lao Cai, people have repeatedly seen strange species of dog like animals.
The strange creatures have bitten about 15 people in Ban Me, Thao Chu Phin, Quang Than San and Si Ma Cai communes in the two districts.
According to local residents, the strange doglike creatures have slender, long bodies, slanting red eyes and their fur coat is marked with white spots, black and white spots or yellow stripes.
They are seen wandering in the villages trying to prey on housedogs or attacking other domestic bred animals like chickens, pigs, goats and horses. They attack any person who tries to drive them away.

Weird beasts spook couple - UK

A TEAM of ghostbusters have been left spooked by a mystery animal encounter near a Fort William sports field.
Jim Morrison, his fiancé Heather MacLeod and Lynsey Dibsdale were conducting a paranormal investigation of Old Inverlochy Castle when they claim two "menacing" tail-less beasts ran across their path on a road leading to Black Parks on the banks of the River Lochy.
The trio, who run their own investigations unit called USI Paranormal, are desperate to get to the bottom of the mystery meeting which happened in the early hours of last Monday.
Jim, from Kinlochleven, told the Lochaber News: "We were doing an all-night investigation at Old Inverlochy Castle and also at the old and new cemeteries at Corpach.
"We were getting no results from either site in terms of any paranormal activity.
"Then at 3am, as we were walking along the road from the castle towards Inverlochy village, we saw two strange animals in the middle of the road.
"I actually only saw the first one, but Heather and Lynsey said there were two.
"They had the body of a greyhound, but were taller, no tail, muscular with very white eyes and a sheep-like face. They looked at us and then crossed the road going towards the river. We watched them and then it looked like they were coming towards us so we quickly made our way back to the castle.
"We didn't really want to hang around. They looked menacing.
"It was all very strange."
Jim wonders whether the animals could be related to a recorded "Alien Big Cat" sighting in Glen Nevis nearly a decade ago.
Two witnesses running in the area observed a three metre long "cat" drinking from the River Nevis.
One of the women said it looked like a "tail-less tiger" with white eyes with no pupils.
The creature ran off when it spotted the runners.
The local press reported the deaths of several sheep in Glen Nevis a few days after the sighting.
Jim, Heather and Lynsey set up USI (Unexplained Sights Investigations) Paranormal a year ago. Using equipment to pick up electro-magnetic fields and digital voice recorders, they conduct paranormal surveys of sights across Lochaber including castles, graveyards as well as homes and hotels.
"Unfortunately, we didn't get any paranormal results from Old Inverlochy Castle or the Corpach graveyards that night, so it looks like the rumours of hauntings are just that," said Jim.
